Changing the world, one city at a time

Tuesday, October 23rd at 9AM, we officially launched a new website and brand for the City of Spartanburg, SC. SLANT was awarded the bid back in April to design a more user-friendly and vibrant website that would allow the City to more easily connect with its residents.

Content was organized by audience, not departmentThis was no small feat – a simple facelift wasn’t going to cut it. We needed to rethink the way residents want to interact with their government and vice-versa. The result was ground-breaking design that eschewed the old method of organizing content by City department. We designed the site’s content to be relevant to the audience type: residents, businesses, visitors and those looking for general info; and provided several ways to get to the same content.

We then focused on how to make the site easy for City officials to manage. So we turned to rockstar development team Pixel Perfect Code to build a powerful but easy to use content management system. “By making the site easier for the City to update and manage, we’re making it easier for residents to get helpful and timely information”, said founder, creative director and Spartanburg native, Christopher Cecil.  “And by adding the City’s social media channels right into the site, we’ve empowered them to have real-time, two-way conversations with residents.” Facebook & twitter integration allow for easy two-way conversations

Of course, no SLANT project would be complete without stunning designs. The resulting site is beautiful and unique for any kind of organization, much less a government entity. “We’re thrilled the City allowed us to get this creative” said partner Will Bullock. “Though, it was a little distracting every time we made a site visit and someone would walk up to Christopher and pat him on the head, being his hometown and all."

The new website is the first of several new communication efforts to be unveiled by the City of Spartanburg. Stay tuned for even more awesomeness...coming soon to a Spartanburg near you.
